The application for the patent was published on Jan. 23, under issue no. 04/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a portable procedure tray integrated with a biomedical waste segregation system, designed to facilitate real-time waste segregation during medical and nursing procedures. The system incorporates three color-coded waste bins: red for infectious waste, yellow for anatomical/soiled waste, and white/translucent for sharps, all integrated into the procedure tray itself. The bins are equipped with pedal-operated lids for touchless operation, ensuring hygienic waste disposal with minimal risk of contamination. The tray is constructed from durable, easy-to-clean materials, offering an ergonomic design with dedicated compartments for instruments and built-in handles for portability. This innovation addresses the critical need for point-of-use biomedical waste segregation, reducing handling steps, improving workflow efficiency, and enhancing infection control in diverse healthcare settings such as operating rooms, emergency units, and home care. The compact, portable design ensures compliance with biomedical waste management regulations while improving patient safety and environmental protection."
