MUMBAI, India, Sept. 26 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202547082191 A) filed by Nokia Technologies Oy, Espoo, Finland, on Aug. 29, for 'priority values for parametric spatial audio encoding.'

Inventor(s) include Vasilache, Adriana; and Laitinen, Mikko-Ville.

The application for the patent was published on Sept. 26, under issue no. 39/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An apparatus configured to: receive a plurality of audio objects each comprising a respective audio signal and directional metadata; separate at least one audio object from the plurality of audio objects to give at least one separated audio object and a remaining plurality of audio objects; determine a priority value associated for each of the remaining plurality of audio objects; determine a priority value for the at least one separated audio object dependent on an audio signal type of the audio signal associated with the at least one separated audio object and the priority values of the remaining plurality of audio objects; determine a quantization bit allocation for directional metadata associated with the at least one separated audio object based on the priority value for the at least one separated audio object; and quantize the directional metadata associated with the at least one separated audio object based on the quantization bit allocation."

The patent application was internationally filed on Feb. 01, 2024, under International application No.PCT/EP2024/052440.
