MUMBAI, India, March 14 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202514076559 A) filed by Distance Technologies Oy, Helsinki, on Aug. 12, 2025, for 'prioritised thermal control for heads-up display.'

Inventor(s) include Mikko Strandborg; Thomas Carlsson; Petri Savolainen; and Urho Konttori.

The application for the patent was published on March 13, under issue no. 11/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Disclosed is a system (100) implemented in a vehicle (102). The system comprises: a heads-up display (HUD) (104, 200); temperature sensors (106a-b, 206a-h) corresponding to regions (208a-b) of the HUD; a temperature controlling unit (108, 210); and processor(s) (110) configured to: determine, using 5 the temperature sensors, temperatures of the regions; detect when the temperatures lie outside a predefined operating temperature range of the HUD; and when it is detected that the temperatures lie outside the predefined operating temperature range, determine a priority order, based on at least one of: the temperatures of the regions, an 10 importance level that is pre-assigned to given virtual content (214a-b) that is to be presented via a given region of the HUD; and control the temperatures according to the priority order, by using the temperature controlling unit, to bring the temperatures within the predefined operating temperature range."
