MUMBAI, India, Feb. 6 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641007337 A) filed by Srm Institute Of Science And Technology, Ramapuram Campus, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on Jan. 25, for 'prestressed concrete beam system with steel fibers in tension zone.'
Inventor(s) include Dr T Ch Madhavi; Dr Manibalan P; and Mervin Sanjith IP.
The application for the patent was published on Feb. 6, under issue no. 06/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a method of combined application of prestressing, silica fume, and corrugated steel fiber incorporation for enhancement of flexural behavior of reinforced concrete beams. The present disclosure significantly improved key flexural parameters, including load-carrying capacity, crack resistance, ductility index, and energy absorption capacity. The partial fiber reinforced prestressed concrete beams of present disclosure wherein fibers are placed selectively in the tension zone enhances ductility and strength while offering substantial material and cost savings without compromising structural performance. The present disclosure provides a simple and cost effective process for the preparation of the partial steel fiber reinforced prestressed concrete beams."
