MUMBAI, India, June 20 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202311084385 A) filed by Mercedes-Benz Group Ag, Stuttgart, Germany, on Dec. 11, 2023, for 'powered-trunk operating system for vehicles and method thereof.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure relates to a powered-trunk operating system 100 and method 300 thereof. The powered-trunk operating system 100 includes one or more processors 202 to detect a presence of one or more obstacles in proximity to a trunk of a vehicle while a user of the vehicle operates the trunk, receive one or more signals from a plurality of sensors 101 in response to the detection of the presence of the one or more obstacles, dynamically estimate an impact zone limit corresponding to the one or more signals, generate a command signal based on detecting the presence of the one or more obstacles within the impact zone limit, and transmit the command signal to an actuation unit 103 of the vehicle to halt actuation of a tailgate of the vehicle."
