MUMBAI, India, Jan. 23 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511126767 A) filed by Sher-E-Kashmir University Of Agricultural Sciences And Technology Of Kashmir; and Farmdraft Equipments Pvt. Ltd., Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir, on Dec. 15, 2025, for 'power-operated saffron corm sorting system.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A power-operated saffron corm sorting system (100) comprises a structural frame (102) comprises a hopper (106) provided with a vibratory feed mechanism (106A), configured to allow a user to feed saffron corms; a rotating sorting cylinder (108), configured to perform size-based grading of the saffron corms. Further, the rotating sorting cylinder (108) for size-based separation of corms fed by the user in the hopper (106); a hydraulic jack (110) operationally connected to the sorting cylinder (108), configured to configured to adjust inclination angle of the rotating sorting cylinder (108). Further, the system (100) comprises power source (112) to provide rotation to the rotating sorting cylinder (108) for facilitating size-based separation and uniform grading of the saffron corns, wherein the power source (112) comprises. Further, the system (100) comprises plurality of collection trays (116) arranged below the rotating sorting cylinder (108) to receive grad."
