MUMBAI, India, May 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621016587 A) filed by Varnilix Private Limited, Pune, Maharashtra, on Feb. 14, for 'power factor correction apparatus with deterministic hardware safety interlocks and relay-weld detection.'
Inventor(s) include Kankal, Akshay Anil.
The application for the patent was published on May 1, under issue no. 18/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A power factor correction apparatus (100) configured with deterministic hardware safety interlocks to prevent hazardous capacitor-bank switching states. The apparatus (100) includes a metering integrated circuit (102) for measuring electrical parameters, a microcontroller (104) for determining reactive power requirements, and a plurality of capacitor steps switched by force-guided relays (110a, 110b) . The force guided relays (110a, 110b) are arranged in a cross-coupled interlock topology where a coil supply of a first force-guided relay is physically routed through a normally-closed monitoring contact of a second relay, thereby mechanically preventing simultaneous energization independent of software control. The apparatus (100) detects a fault and executes an automatic lock-out to permanently exclude the failed relay from service while continuing power factor correction with remaining healthy capacitor steps."
