MUMBAI, India, July 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517059763 A) filed by Lg Energy Solution, Ltd., Seoul, Republic of Korea, on June 23, for 'pouch cell.'

Inventor(s) include Lee, Yu Jin; Kim, Sang Hun; and Park, Eun Suk.

The application for the patent was published on July 4, under issue no. 27/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a pouch cell capable of discharging gases inside the pouch to the outside of the pouch so as to delay or prevent venting of the pouch by means of gases generated therein during a charging or discharging process of the pouch cell. The pouch cell according to the present invention comprises: an electrode assembly; a pouch that accommodates the electrode assembly; an electrode lead that is electrically connected to the electrode assembly and protrudes to the outside of the pouch; a pair of lead films including center portions covering a portion of the electrode lead on both sides of the pouch such that the pouch and the electrode lead are insulated, and outer portions disposed on both sides of the center portions; and a passage member disposed between the pair of lead films and attached to the outer portions, wherein a gas pathway may be formed between the passage member and the lead films when pressure inside the pouch increases greater than or equal to a set pressure."
