MUMBAI, India, Nov. 21 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517097215 A) filed by Toyota Jidosha Kabushiki Kaisha, Aichi, Japan, on Oct. 8, for 'positive electrode active material and sodium ion secondary battery.'

Inventor(s) include Yubuchi, So; and Yoshida, Jun.

The application for the patent was published on Nov. 21, under issue no. 47/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention discloses a positive electrode active material having a P2-type structure and a large reversible capacity. A positive electrode active material according to the present disclosure contains an Na-containing oxide. The Na-containing oxide has a P2-type structure. The Na-containing oxide contains, as constituent elements, at least Na, O, and at least one selected from Mn, Ni, and Co. An X-ray diffraction pattern of the Na-containing oxide satisfies I1/I2=0.10. An X-ray diffraction pattern of the Na-containing oxide satisfies I1/I3=0.70. Here, I1 is an X-ray diffraction peak intensity derived from the (102) plane of the P2-type structure, I2 is an X-ray diffraction peak intensity derived from the (002) plane of the P2-type structure, and I3 is an X-ray diffraction peak intensity derived from the (100) plane of the P2-type structure."

The patent application was internationally filed on Feb. 29, 2024, under International application No.PCT/JP2024/007607.
