MUMBAI, India, Aug. 8 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517062612 A) filed by Lg Energy Solution, Ltd., Seoul, Republic of Korea, on July 1, for 'positive electrode, method for manufacturing same, and lithium secondary battery comprising positive electrode.'

Inventor(s) include Koo, Dae Ryung; Joo, Mun Kyu; Lee, Il Ha; Chae, Jong Hyun; Kwon, Yo Han; and Choi, Seong Won.

The application for the patent was published on Aug. 8, under issue no. 32/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a positive electrode and a lithium secondary battery comprising the positive electrode, the positive electrode including, in an active material layer, a positive electrode active material and a carbonate-based compound containing a fluorine-containing functional group, wherein the intensity of peaks that appear in a C 1s spectrum obtained by XPS analysis satisfies a certain ratio, and the positive electrode has excellent resistance characteristics and suppressed deterioration, and thus the lifespan characteristics can be improved. In addition, a lithium secondary battery comprising the positive electrode has improved resistance characteristics and suppressed deterioration of the positive and negative electrodes, such that sudden drops in capacity can be prevented and the lifespan characteristics can also be improved."

The patent application was internationally filed on Jan. 30, 2024, under International application No.PCT/KR2024/001433.
