MUMBAI, India, Sept. 26 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411020703 A) filed by Shobhit Institute Of Engineering & Technology, Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, on March 19, 2024, for 'portable pipe cutting device.'

Inventor(s) include Anil Kumar Joshi; Shamshad Hussain; Esheta Tyagi; and Evgeniya Zharikova.

The application for the patent was published on Sept. 26, under issue no. 39/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a portable pipe cutting device, comprising a platform 1 positioned over a pipe via multiple suction cups 2 arranged underneath the platform 1 for affixing on the pipe, an imaging unit 3 mounted on platform 1 for determining pipe dimension, multiple motorized hinge joints 4 integrated within platform 1 for bending the platform 1, a display panel 5 mapped on platform 1 for enabling user's input details, a sliding unit 6 configured with platform 1 for providing movement to a C-shaped member 7 attached with sliding unit 6 for positioning the member 7 over specified portion, an ultrasonic sensor 8 mapped on member 7 for detecting the member's 7 position, a motorized gear 9 assembled on sliding unit 6 for providing movement to member 7 and a laser sensor 11 assembled on member 7 for detecting pipe thickness."
