MUMBAI, India, Jan. 23 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641001791 A) filed by National Institute Of Technology, Calicut, Kerala, on Jan. 7, for 'polydimethylsiloxane (pdms) based self-cleaning floating sponge embedded with hexadecyltrimethoxysilane(htdms)-grafted red graphitic carbon nitride for oil-water separation and pollutant removal.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A self-cleaning, floating sponge system comprising red graphitic carbon (hereinafter referred to as R-g-CN) grafted with hexadecyltrimethoxysilane (hereinafter referred to as HDTMS) into a polydimethylsiloxane (hereinafter referred to as PDMS) scaffold. A method of fabricating the sponge system is also disclosed."
