MUMBAI, India, Feb. 6 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541121176 A) filed by Nandha Engineering College, Vaikkaalmedu, Tamil Nadu, on Dec. 3, 2025, for 'pneumtic board cleaner.'

Inventor(s) include S. Balakrishnan; G. Nantha Balan; S. Sakthi; and N. Siva Prakash.

The application for the patent was published on Feb. 6, under issue no. 06/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Classroom teaching often requires frequent board cleaning, and traditional erasers demand repetitive manual effort, resulting in fatigue, inconsistent cleaning, and significant chalk dust dispersion. These issues can reduce teaching efficiency and affect classroom air quality, causing discomfort for both teachers and students. To address this, the Pneumatic Board Cleaner System has been developed as an automated solution that ensures uniform, dust-controlled wiping of blackboards using compressed air-driven actuation. The system employs a double-acting pneumatic cylinder, a directional control valve, and a guided wiper mechanism mounted on a lightweight frame. When activated, compressed air drives the wiper smoothly across the board surface, providing consistent cleaning with minimal human input. Flow control valves enable adjustable speed, while the mechanism's simple structure ensures reliability, low energy consumption, and ease of maintenance. Designed to be cost-effective and classroom-friendly, the device avoids electrical hazards and is suitable for institutions that already use compressed air systems. Optional features such as a foot pedal, push-button control, or dustcollecting attachments can further enhance usability. Testing shows significant reduction in cleaning time, improved surface clarity, and notable decrease in airborne chalk particles. Overall, this pneumatic board-cleaning system offers a practical and efficient solution that simplifies the teaching process, promotes a cleaner environment, and provides a durable alternative to manual erasing."
