MUMBAI, India, Nov. 21 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411025985 A) filed by Chandigarh University; and Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator, Mohali, Punjab, on March 29, 2024, for 'plastic strap connecting assistive device.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A plastic strap connecting assistive device, comprising an elongated body 1 crafted with a handle 2 to enable a user to position the body 1 over a pair of plastic straps wounded around a package, a microphone installed over the body 1 to receive voice command, an imaging unit 3 installed over the platform to determine location of the straps, a robotic grippers 4 equipped with multiple units installed over lateral sides of the body 1 to pull and align the straps with each other, a motorized hinge joint 6 installed with the body 1 to provide rotation to a curved link 7 to accommodate the aligned straps within the link, a pneumatic pusher 8 installed with the body 1 to position a plate 9 in contact with the aligned straps, a heating unit installed with the plate 9 to heat the aligned straps for connecting the straps."
