MUMBAI, India, April 17 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641042510 A) filed by Nitte, Mangaluru, Karnataka, on April 2, for 'plastic bottle segregation system with qr-coded lids.'

The vending machine (104) includes a scanning unit (132) positioned over vending machine (104) to read a QR code or identification marking provided on bottle lid (102), a mechanical sorting unit (134) to segregate plastic bottles, based on identified plastic type, and a processing unit (108) operatively coupled to the scanning unit (132) and configured to determine the type of plastic for segregation. The processing unit (108) includes an image acquisition module (110), QR localization and validation module (112), feature extraction module (114), number decoding module (116), plastic classification module (118), output module (120), and an user interface (124) linked to output module (120) to provide system (100) related information."
