MUMBAI, India, April 17 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202631045145 A) filed by Siksha O Anusandhan, Bhubaneswar, Orissa, on April 8, for 'plant irrigation apparatus.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. Ramprosad Nandi; and Prof. Sushanta Kumar Kamilla.
The application for the patent was published on April 17, under issue no. 16/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A plant irrigation apparatus comprises of a hollow elongated reservoir 101 installed in proximity to a plant to be irrigated where at least one sidewall 102, 103 of the reservoir 101 is of a porous construction to enable flow of water contained in the reservoir 101 towards roots of plant, an upper portion of the reservoir 101 with a first sidewall 102 is having a first porosity and a lower portion of the reservoir 101 with a second sidewall 103 constructed to have a second porosity, a non-porous bottom flap 104 to prevent a downward flow of water, a lid 105 to cover an opening 106 to prevent evaporative loss of water contained in the reservoir 101 and a method for producing the reservoir 101 from the first material and the second material, these first and second materials are based on mixtures of clay, rice husk, sand and sawdust."
