MUMBAI, India, Nov. 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411024876 A) filed by Chandigarh University; and Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator, Mohali, Punjab, on March 27, 2024, for 'plant grafting assistive device.'

Inventor(s) include Rashi Tyagi.

The application for the patent was published on Nov. 7, under issue no. 45/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A plant grafting assistive device, comprises of an elongated body 1 having a first and second portion and first portion of the body 1 is installed with a rod 6 that is attached with a curved-shaped blade 7 and second portion of the body 1 is attached with a handle 8 for acquiring a grip over the body 1, an imaging unit 5 detects thickness and angle of stem of the plant, an angle sensor for detecting angle of the body 1, a speaker 2 for notifying the user to maintain the body 1 at the determined angle, a LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) sensor to detect distance between the body 1 and stem of plant, a curved-shaped cutter to perform grafting operation on the plant, and an electronically controlled nozzle 4 to dispense the gel over the portion of the plant."
