Inventor(s) include Babu, Prof. Anju R; Are, Mr. Ramakrishna Prasad; and Sajeevan, Mr. Drishya.

The application for the patent was published on April 17, under issue no. 16/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a plant-derived mucilage-modified porous polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) sponge for oil-water separation and a method of preparation thereof. The sponge comprises a porous PDMS matrix formed from a PDMS base and a curing agent, and at least one plant-derived mucilage material incorporated within and/or coated on the PDMS matrix. The method of preparation includes providing a sacrificial porous template, infiltrating the template with a liquid PDMS mixture, degassing and curing the mixture to form a solid PDMS matrix, and removing the sacrificial template by dissolution in water to obtain a porous PDMS sponge. The porous sponge is subsequently coated or impregnated with plant-derived mucilage selected from aloe vera mucilage, flaxseed mucilage, or a combination thereof, followed by drying to obtain the modified porous PDMS sponge suitable for oil-water separation."
