MUMBAI, India, Jan. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541122345 A) filed by Aditya Degree & Pg College, Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, on Dec. 5, 2025, for 'plant-derived bioactive compound formulation for sustainable antimicrobial and antioxidant applications.'
Inventor(s) include D. Madhavi Ratna Priya.
The application for the patent was published on Jan. 2, under issue no. 01/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a novel plant-derived bioactive compound formulation exhibiting potent antimicrobial and antioxidant activities suitable for sustainable applications in healthcare, agriculture, and food preservation. The formulation comprises an optimized combination of phytochemicals extracted from selected medicinal plants, including polyphenols, flavonoids, alkaloids, and terpenoids, synergistically blended with a biodegradable carrier matrix. The extraction is achieved using a green solvent-based ultrasonic-assisted method to ensure high yield and purity of active compounds. The formulation effectively inhibits a broad spectrum of pathogenic bacteria and fungi, while scavenging reactive oxygen species to prevent oxidative stress. This plant-based formulation (10) provides an eco-friendly, non-toxic, and renewable alternative to synthetic chemical preservatives and antibiotics, with potential use in pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and packaging industries."
