MUMBAI, India, Sept. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411014262 A) filed by Chandigarh Group Of Colleges, Mohali, Punjab, on Feb. 27, 2024, for 'pillar damage prevention device.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Tarun; Dr. Ashima; Mamta; and Ranjit Kumar.

The application for the patent was published on Sept. 12, under issue no. 37/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A pillar damage prevention device, comprises of a pair of extendable C-shaped frame 1 associated with the device developed to be positioned around a pillar constructed on a roadside, an artificial intelligence based image capturing module 2 installed on the one of frame 1 to determine dimension of the pillar, an electromagnets installed on tip portion of each of the frame 1 for locking end of the frame 1 with each other, a tactile sensor integrated on one of the for determining hardness of the pillar, a laser sensor integrated within the frame 1 for determining height of the vehicle present in proximity to the pillar, an ultrasonic sensor integrated within the frame 1 for determining approach of the vehicle towards the pillar, and a flexible stretchable elastic sheet installed in between the frame 1 for bearing impact generated by the vehicle at time of collision with the pillar."
