MUMBAI, India, Feb. 6 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511132514 A) filed by Chandigarh University, Mohali, Punjab, on Dec. 27, 2025, for 'piezoelectric power-generating shoes with integrated usb charging port.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Anuj Gupta; Navneet Lankalapalli; Ayush Lal; Vinay Shah; Dr. Inderpreet Singh; and Meenakshi.

The application for the patent was published on Feb. 6, under issue no. 06/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention discloses an autonomous ocean-cleaning drone system capable of identifying, collecting, and biologically degrading marine plastic waste directly at sea. The system integrates an AI-based navigation and debris detection module, a robotic collection and pre-treatment mechanism for shredding plastic, and sealed mycelium-based digestion pods that enzymatically break down polymers into harmless organic compounds. An optional bioenergy recovery unit converts the degradation byproducts into usable fuel to extend operational life. Multiple drones operate collaboratively via swarm intelligence for large-scale deployment. Unlike traditional systems that only collect and transport waste to land, this invention performs complete on-site degradation, thereby minimizing secondary pollution and reducing reliance on shore-based waste facilities. The invention represents a self-sustaining, scalable, and eco-friendly solution combining robotics, biotechnology, and renewable energy to address the global marine plastic pollution crisis."
