MUMBAI, India, April 10 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202441075430 A) filed by Shashank Nukula Amarnath, Bengaluru, Karnataka, on Oct. 5, 2024, for 'physical book rental.'
Inventor(s) include Vinil A Kumar; Vishnu A. K; and Shashank Nukula Amarnath.
The application for the patent was published on April 10, under issue no. 15/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A computer system that allows users to not only upload books for rent, receive requests from respective buyers and be notified of it but also as buyers, allows them to send a request for renting a book, paying the deposit and starting the rental period. Upon nearing the end of the rental period the system allows buyers to either renew renting by paying the same deposit or returning the books and receiving the appropriate amount as decided by the system. it also returns the profit to the sellers. In case buyers abscond or damage the book the system also provides a way to return the deposit back to sellers post deducting service charges."
