Inventor(s) include Dr. A. Santhi Mary Antony; Dr. Prashant Kumar S Chinamalli; Dr. S. Philip Raja; Mr. P. Rajasekar; Dr. G. Saravanan; Dr. Merlin Suba G; and Chithrakkannan R.
The application for the patent was published on Jan. 2, under issue no. 01/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention discloses a photovoltaic-powered DC borewell pumping system integrated with a high step-up DC-DC converter for efficient and reliable water pumping. The system enables direct DC operation of submersible borewell pumps by boosting the low-voltage output from a PV array to the high voltage required by the pump motor, eliminating the need for AC inverters or extensive battery storage. A control and monitoring unit continuously measures PV voltage, converter output, pump current, and water flow, dynamically adjusting converter parameters to maintain stable and optimal pump operation under variable solar irradiance. The modular and scalable design allows adaptation for different borewell depths, flow rates, and PV capacities, while the high-efficiency converter ensures maximum energy utilization. The invention provides a sustainable, cost-effective, and environmentally friendly solution for agricultural, rural, and industrial water pumping applications."
