MUMBAI, India, Feb. 6 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541092604 A) filed by BNM Institute of Technology, Bengaluru, Karnataka, on Sept. 26, 2025, for 'photonpack - a pocket solar power source for portable electronic devices.'
Inventor(s) include Pragathi M L; Nischitha K M; Shreya S; Dr. Keerti Kulkarni; and Dr. Priyadarshini K Desai.
The application for the patent was published on Feb. 6, under issue no. 06/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention relates to a portable solar charging device, designated as PhotonPack, designed to provide efficient, sustainable power for small electronic gadgets. The device integrates a photovoltaic solar panel, a maximum power point tracking (MPPT) charge controller, a rechargeable lithium-ion battery, and universal serial bus (USB) output ports into a compact enclosure. The solar panel harvests sunlight and converts it into electrical energy, which is optimized by the MPPT controller to maximize energy extraction under varying irradiance conditions. The regulated energy is stored in the lithium-ion battery, ensuring continuous availability of power, even in the absence of sunlight. The stored energy is supplied through standard USB ports, delivering 5V output for compatibility with smartphones, tablets, and other electronic devices. The device is lightweight, durable, and weather-resistant, making it ideal for outdoor activities, travel, and emergency use. The PhotonPack offers an eco-friendly alternative to conventional power banks while promoting renewable energy adoption."
