MUMBAI, India, Nov. 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202537100708 A) filed by Tokuyama Corporation, Yamaguchi, Japan, on Oct. 17, for 'photochromic compound, naphthol derivative, curable composition, optical article, lens, and eyeglass.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The purpose of the present invention is to provide: a photochromic compound having excellent temperature dependency and an excellent color fading rate; a naphthol derivative that can be an intermediate for the photochromic compound; and a curable composition, an optical article, a lens, and an eyeglass each including the photochromic compound. An embodiment of the present invention provides a photochromic compound having a skeleton represented by formula (1). In formula (1), M is C, Si, or Ge. Ring A is a substituted or unsubstituted aromatic ring, a substituted or unsubstituted aromatic heterocyclic ring, or a substituted or unsubstituted condensed polycyclic ring in which an aromatic ring or an aromatic heterocyclic ring and the substituted or unsubstituted aromatic ring or the substituted or unsubstituted aromatic heterocyclic ring are condensed. Z1 is a group represented by formula (1a) or a group represented by formula (1b)."
