MUMBAI, India, May 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621027706 A) filed by Lakshmi Narain College Of Technology Excellence, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, on March 9, for 'photo switchable nhc-caac ligand and method for preparation thereof.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. Vivek Gupta; Dr. Varsha Parmar; Dr. Sangeeta Dhote; Dr. Anjali Tiwari; and Dr. Vivek Kumar Pundhir.
The application for the patent was published on May 1, under issue no. 18/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A photo switchable NHC-CAAC ligand comprises an N heterocyclic carbene fragment and a cyclic alkyl(amino) carbene fragment covalently linked through a central C=C bond. The ligand functions as a reversible photochromic moiety that interconverts between at least two distinct states upon alternating ultraviolet and visible light irradiation, thereby reversibly altering its redox potential. The ligand is further identified by ESI MS molecular ion peaks for its isomeric forms. This structural and functional design enables precise external light control over the ligand's electronic properties, making it suitable for applications in redox active catalytic reactions and molecular switching means."
