MUMBAI, India, July 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517057637 A) filed by University Of Cape Town, Cape Town, South Africa, on June 16, for 'phenyl-pyrazolo[3,4-b]pyridine-4-carboxylic acid derivates for use as 5-alpha reductase antagonists in methods of treatment.'
Inventor(s) include Arowolo, Afolake; Khumalo, Nonhlanhla Patience; Oputu, Ogheneochuko Utieyin; Ntshingila, Sincengile Nokubonga; and Fienberg, Stephen.
The application for the patent was published on July 4, under issue no. 27/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention provides for compounds that are phenyl-pyrazolo[3,4- b]pyridine-4-carboxylic acid derivates for use as 5-alpha reductase antagonists, in particular as type 1 and type 2 antagonists.
