MUMBAI, India, June 27 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202341087914 A) filed by Dr. Yallamalli Indira Muzib, Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh, on Dec. 22, 2023, for 'pharmaceutical composition utilizing kodo millet starch as a disintegrant and binding agent.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A pharmaceutical composition in the form of tablet dosage form is provided. The composition comprises at least one active pharmaceutical ingredient (API), formulated by utilizing Kodo millet starch as a disintegrant and binding agent. The other key excipients of the formulation include lactose, utilized as a diluent to augment the bulk of the formulation; magnesium stearate, functioning as a lubricant, which reduces friction and minimizes adhesion between the tablet granules; and talc, utilized as a glidant to facilitate the unhindered flow of the granules. In the said formulation, the Kodo Millet is present in an amount ranging from about 2% to 15% by weight based on the total weight of the formulation. The API of the formulation may be selected from the group consisting of pharmaceutical drugs, vitamins, minerals, or combinations thereof."
