MUMBAI, India, April 10 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411071006 A) filed by Chandigarh Engineering College, Mohali, Punjab, on Sept. 19, 2024, for 'pest and weed control device for agricultural fields.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Ashima Shahi.

The application for the patent was published on April 10, under issue no. 15/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A pest and weed control device for agricultural fields, comprising a cuboidal body 101 positioned within an agricultural field with multiple chambers 102 stored with different biodegradable weed and pest control solutions, an electronic sprayer 103 via a conduit 104 for spraying solution, a user-interface for enabling a user to give input commands for spraying solutions, multiple wheels 106 to maneuver body 101 within field, an imaging unit 107 for detecting crops affected with weed/pest, a robotic arm 108 via a motorized slider 109 for translating and positioning robotic arm 108 in proximity to one of sprayer 103 corresponding to one of chambers 102 stored with determined solution, a covering unit 110 constructed with a platform 111 installed with a set of extendable plates 112 via a telescopically operated rod 113 for positioning unit over affected crop to be sprayed with solution for covering affected crop from three sides."
