MUMBAI, India, June 16 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611054355 A) filed by ITS Dental College, Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, on April 29, for 'pediatric mucoadhesive dissolvable anesthetic patch for intraoral use and method for preparation thereof.'

The application for the patent was published on June 5, under issue no. 23/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a pediatric-friendly mucoadhesive dissolvable anesthetic patch for localized intraoral anesthesia and a process and method for its preparation and use. The patch comprises of a flexible polymeric matrix, a topical anesthetic agent, and mucoadhesive polymers, as well as pharmaceutical excipients designed for adhesion to the oral mucosa. After application, the drug release system delivers the drug to the target site and gradually dissolves, eliminating the need for removal. The formulation can be designed to include flavoring agents and pediatric-friendly visual designs to enhance the level of cooperation and compliance in dental procedures. The invention enables an effective and convenient alternative to traditional topical anesthetic gel and spray preparations in pediatric dental care."
