According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A pedal-operated flax decorticator machine (100) is disclosed for separating bast fibres from retted flax stalks. The machine (100) comprises a modular frame (2) mounted on a base frame (6) and at least two drum rollers (4) rotatably mounted on the modular frame in a vertically spaced configuration to define a nip region for receiving the stalks. Each drum roller includes circumferentially spaced teeth configured to laterally fracture woody pith while preserving bast fibres. A roller clearance adjustment assembly comprises a height-adjusting screw (3) for varying spacing between the drum rollers (4). A pedal drive assembly includes a foot pedal (7) coupled to an offset crank (11), wherein rotational input is transmitted to the drum rollers through a power transmission system comprising a linkage (10), a driving gear (5), and driven gears (8). The foot pedal and stalk feeding zone are positioned on a same operational side of the machine."
