MUMBAI, India, May 29 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202631029211 A) filed by Narula Institute Of Technology, Kolkata, West Bengal, on March 11, for 'pebble-shaped wearable ecg patch with leaf-vein electrode pattern for continuous cardiac monitoring.'

Inventor(s) include Pallav Dutta; and Aparajita Paul.

The application for the patent was published on May 29, under issue no. 22/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention provides a pebble-shaped wearable ECG patch comprising a biomorphic enclosure and a leaf-vein patterned electrode layout for continuous, non-intrusive cardiac monitoring. The device integrates a soft, medical-grade silicone housing with an internal flexible electronics module consisting of a low-noise analog front-end, a microcontroller, and a Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) transmitter. The leaf-vein electrode geometry features a branching structure that increases the number of micro-contact points with the skin, thereby enhancing signal stability and reducing motion artifacts. Designed for ambulatory use, the patch offers improved ergonomic comfort, high signal fidelity, and long-duration battery life, making it suitable for arrhythmia detection, athletic monitoring, and telemedicine applications."
