According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A pearl piercing device, comprising a cuboidal housing 101 having multiple suction cups 102 for stabilizing housing 101 on a flat surface, a storage chamber 103 stores pearls, an iris lid dispenses pearls, a conical hopper 105 receives a dispensed pearl, a spiral groove 106 is disposed along an inner surface of hopper 105 for travelling of dispensed pearl along groove 106, a vibration unit vibrates hopper 105 to align pearl with groove 106, an annular flap 107 provided in housing 101, for holding pearl from hopper 105, a drill 108 mounted on a hydraulic pusher 109 provided horizontally laterally with respect to flap 107, an electromagnetic spring 110 having a hemispherical tray 111 for supporting pearl during drilling, an imaging unit 113, determine a defecting pearl, a telescopic gripper 114 pick defective pearl to place into a receptacle 115 in housing 101."
