MUMBAI, India, May 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641050276 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on April 20, for 'pearl cultivation system and the method thereof.'

Inventor(s) include Eeshant Singh; Abhishek Ganesh Iyer; Tejasvardhan; and Jyotismita Mishra.

The application for the patent was published on May 1, under issue no. 18/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure relates to a pearl cultivation system (100) can include water parameter sensing unit (102) including pH sensor (102-1), temperature sensor (102-2), and total dissolved solids sensor (102-3) positioned within a freshwater cultivation environment. The system can include biological parameter sensing unit (104) including shell movement detection sensor (104-1), nacre activity detection sensor (104-2), and mineral concentration sensor (104-3) positioned in proximity to a mollusc culture region. The system can include processing unit (106) electrically connected to water parameter sensing unit (102) and biological parameter sensing unit (104). The system can include actuating unit (108) including water circulation pump (108-1) and flow control valve (108-2). The system can include mineral dosing unit (110) and communication interface (112). The processing unit (106) correlates environmental signals and biological signals and activates actuating unit (108) and mineral dosing unit (110) in closed-loop manner for real-time regulation of pearl growth conditions."
