MUMBAI, India, Oct. 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411022905 A) filed by Chandigarh University; and Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator, Mohali, Punjab, on March 23, 2024, for 'passenger safety device used for arrival and departure.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A passenger safety device used for arrival and departure, comprising an extendable rectangular shaped frame 1 positioned on door portion of bus by means of plurality of suction cups 2, an artificial intelligence based image capturing module 3 determines dimension of door and accordingly frame 1 extends, multiple ultrasonic sensors monitors arrival of approaching vehicle when a passenger departs or avails bus, plurality of LED lights 4 installed on frame 1 for illuminating a red light in order to notify driver of vehicle to stop while passenger is departing or boarding, multiple speed sensors integrated within frame 1 for determining speed of vehicle, a pair of curved shaped flap 5 hinged on lateral sides of frame 1 forms an obstruction for the drivers d thereby aiding passengers to avail or depart bus in a secured manner."
