MUMBAI, India, July 11 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541060543 A) filed by Vignan's Institute Of Information Technology, Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, on June 25, for 'partial replacement of cement with ggbs in concrete.'
Inventor(s) include Mr. M. Padmakar; Mr. S. Srinivas; Mr. Borigarla Barhmaia; Ms. S. Anjani Kumari; Mr. G. Bhanu Prakas; and Mr. B. Kumar.
The application for the patent was published on July 11, under issue no. 28/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The construction industry is one of the largest consumers of natural resources, with cement being a significant contributor to greenhouse gas emissions. The production of cement accounts for approximately 8% of global CO2 emissions. the use of GGBS as a partial replacement for cement in concrete is still a relatively new and developing area of research. There is a need for further investigation into the effects of GGBS on the properties of concrete, including its workability, strength, and durability."
