MUMBAI, India, Aug. 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202421005432 A) filed by Patel Sunil Vitthalbhai, Mehsana, Gujarat, on Jan. 26, 2024, for 'parametric optimization of laser cladding process and method in mam (metal additive manufacturing).'

Inventor(s) include Patel Sunil Vitthalbhai.

The application for the patent was published on Aug. 1, under issue no. 31/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "This invention relates to the parametric optimization of the laser cladding process and method in Metal Additive Manufacturing (MAM). In this study, a Fe-based alloy powder was deposited on an AISI 1045 substrate using a 3000 W fiber laser equipped with a coaxial rectangular nozzle. The objective was to examine cladding geometry characteristics and optimize powder efficiency and deposition speed for economic efficiency. A factorial design involving powder feed rate (F), scan speed (V), and laser power (P) was employed. Through statistical analysis, a linear regression model was established to correlate these parameters with track height, width-to-height ratio, powder efficiency, and deposition speed. A process map was generated, with track form and economic metrics as limits, revealing a flat-top track profile conducive to uniform cladding. Within the operational window, powder efficiency and deposition speed exceeded 50% and 20 mm3/s, respectively, ensuring efficient material usage and productivity."
