MUMBAI, India, Aug. 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202527068009 A) filed by Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd., Guangdong, China, on July 16, for 'paging method, and apparatus.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Provided in the present application are a paging method, and an apparatus. The paging method comprises: a terminal device receives extended discontinuous reception (eDRX) configuration information of a first type and eDRX configuration information of a second type, the eDRX configuration information of the first type comprising a first eDRX cycle, the eDRX configuration information of the second type comprising a second eDRX cycle, the first eDRX cycle being greater than a first cycle threshold value, and the second eDRX cycle being less than or equal to the first cycle threshold value; and, according to the category of an access network device of a cell where the terminal device resides, the terminal device determines to use the eDRX configuration information of the first type to monitor a paging message or to use the eDRX configuration information of the second type to monitor a paging message. Using the present application allows the evolved eDRX technology to be compatible with the eDRX technology before evolution, thus increasing the paging success rate."
