MUMBAI, India, Nov. 21 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517098675 A) filed by Siemens Mobility Gmbh, Munchen, Germany, on Oct. 13, for 'overvoltage protector for current collectors.'
Inventor(s) include Jakobi, Steffen; Stark, Thomas; and Sanger, Goran.
The application for the patent was published on Nov. 21, under issue no. 47/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention relates to an overvoltage protection circuit (20) for a current collector (3) of an electrically driven vehicle (6). The overvoltage protection circuit (20) comprises a first overvoltage protection device (1a) between a positive contact (VCL+) of the current collector (3) and an intermediary layer (IL) of the current collector (3). The first overvoltage protection device (1a) is designed to monitor an electric voltage (U1) between the positive contact (VCL+) of the current collector (3) and the intermediary layer (IL) of the current collector (3), detect an overvoltage, and in the event of an overvoltage, limit the overvoltage by reducing the electric resistance of the first overvoltage protection device (1a). The overvoltage protection circuit (20) also comprises a second overvoltage protection device (1b) between a negative contact (VCL-) of the current collector (3) and the intermediary layer (IL) of the current collector (3). The second overvoltage protection device (1b) is designed to monitor an electric voltage (U2) between the negative contact (VCL-) of the current collector (3) and the intermediary layer (IL) of the current collector (3), detect an overvoltage, and in the event of an overvoltage, limit the overvoltage by reducing the electric resistance of the second overvoltage protection device (1b). The invention additionally relates to a current collector (3), to an electrically driven vehicle (6), and to a method for reducing an overvoltage using the overvoltage protection circuit (20)."
The patent application was internationally filed on Feb. 23, 2024, under International application No.PCT/EP2024/054674.
