MUMBAI, India, April 17 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541111349 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Technology, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on Nov. 14, 2025, for 'overhead automated charging device (oh-acd) system for electrical vehicles.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Disclosed herein is an Overhead Automated Charging Device (OH-ACD) system for Electric Vehicles (EVs). The OH-ACD system includes a mechanical interface assembly that comprises a mounting pole equipped with a main support frame, an upper arm, a lower arm, an upper arm lever, and a rail attach frame. The upper arm lever is connected to the upper arm. Further, the upper arm lever is adapted to make angular movement to a required degree of rotation making the upper arm and the lower arm move up and down to establish contact of the rail attach frame with vehicle-side rails. The OH-ACD system further includes a communication and control subsystem module configured to establish a Wi-Fi communication between the EV and OH-ACD system for charging the EV using a Wi-Fi band/link. The same Wi-Fi band/link that is used for confirming the vehicle positioning and/or alignment."
