MUMBAI, India, Jan. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541123212 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology, Vellore, Tamil Nadu, on Dec. 6, 2025, for 'optimized ensemble intrusion detection system using enhanced whale optimization.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. K. Thangaramya; Yannam Sri Ganesh Reddy; and Patnaikuni V Siva Ugandhara Manoj Kumar.
The application for the patent was published on Jan. 2, under issue no. 01/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure provides an intrusion detection system for network security comprising a data preprocessing module configured to receive network traffic data and perform data cleaning operations including missing value treatment, categorical variable encoding, and feature normalization, a feature selection module implementing an Enhanced Whale Optimization Algorithm configured to select optimal features from preprocessed data using a fitness function evaluating classifier performance, an ensemble classification module comprising multiple machine learning classifiers configured to process selected features, and a stacking framework configured to combine predictions using a meta-classifier. The Enhanced Whale Optimization Algorithm implements population-based search with binary feature selection masks, convergence factor adjustment, and spiral updating mechanisms combining exploitation and exploration phases. The ensemble classification module comprises a Random Forest classifier employing bootstrap aggregating, an XGBoost classifier utilizing gradient boosting, and a Multi-Layer Perceptron classifier for non-linear patterns."
