MUMBAI, India, Jan. 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511102354 A) filed by Lovely Professional University, Phagwara, Punjab, on Oct. 24, 2025, for 'optimized classification framework for electroencephalogram signal-based wheelchair navigation system.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Amit Dutt; Gaurav Gupta; Dr. Deepak Prashar; and Gazal Sharma.

The application for the patent was published on Dec. 12, under issue no. 50/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An optimized classification framework for electroencephalogram signal-based wheelchair navigation system, comprising a data acquisition module 101 configured to receive EEG signals from one or more EEG sensors associated with a user, a preprocessing module 102 configured to filter the EEG signals and remove noise artifacts and irrelevant frequency components, a feature extraction and selection module 103 configured to extract multiple features from the EEG signals and perform feature reduction using Recursive Feature Elimination RFE and correlation threshold CT analysis to identify optimal feature subsets, a classification module 104 configured to evaluate a plurality of machine learning models including ensemble-based classifiers and convert classification output into wheelchair control signals for navigation commands including forward backward left right and stop, an outlier utilization unit 105 configured to isolate and train models using outlier data to enhance class separability and a performance evaluation module 106 configured to compute accuracy (ROC) and PR metrics."
