MUMBAI, India, Jan. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541122383 A) filed by New Horizon College Of Engineering, Bangalore, Karnataka, on Dec. 5, 2025, for 'optical lens integrated solar flat plate collector.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. Nagabhushana N.
The application for the patent was published on Jan. 2, under issue no. 01/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention relates to a solar water heating system that utilizes an optical lens assembly to enhance thermal collection efficiency through concentrated solar radiation. The system comprises a flat-plate or tubular solar collector with an absorber plate positioned beneath one or more optical lenses such as Fresnel, plano-convex, or hybrid lenses. The lenses are mounted at a predetermined focal distance and focus incident sunlight onto the absorber, thereby increasing heat flux and accelerating water heating. An adjustable support frame maintains precise lens-to-absorber alignment to accommodate seasonal variations in solar elevation. The system operates using thermosiphon or forced circulation to transfer heated water to an insulated storage tank. This configuration provides improved performance under low-intensity sunlight, enabling higher water temperatures, faster heating rates, and increased overall efficiency without the need for complex tracking mechanisms or large collector surfaces."
