MUMBAI, India, Jan. 9 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202531129025 A) filed by Kalinga Institute Of Industrial Technology, Bhubaneswar, Orissa, on Dec. 19, 2025, for 'olanzapine matrix transdermal patch.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention provides a matrix-type transdermal patch comprising olanzapine as an active pharmaceutical ingredient (102) in a range of 1% to 20% by weight, polymer matrix materials (104) in a range of 20% to 80% by weight, permeation enhancers (106) in a range of 5% to 40% by weight, adhesives (108) in a range of 10% to 50% by weight, stabilizers (110) in a range of 0.1% to 5% by weight, solubilizers (112) in a range of 0.5% to 10% by weight, plasticizers (114) in a range of 0.5% to 8% by weight, antioxidants (116) in a range of 0.01% to 2% by weight, and a backing layer (118) for skin application. The patch provides controlled olanzapine delivery over 24 to 72 hours while maintaining therapeutic plasma concentrations, bypassing first-pass metabolism, reducing gastrointestinal side effects, and improving patient compliance."
