MUMBAI, India, June 20 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202424098340 A) filed by Oculus Optikgeraete Gmbh, Wetzlar, Germany, on Dec. 12, 2024, for 'observation device and method for observing an eye.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Invention relates to an observation device(10) having positioning unit(11) for positioning optical unit(12) in a beam path(13) of microscope between an objective of microscope and before an eye to be observed, and to a method for observing an eye with an observation device of this kind; positioning unit comprising connection device(14), positioning device(15), accommodating device(16) and optical unit; optical unit comprising a lens, which serves to observe a fundus of eye, and a further optical element; positioning unit comprising pivoting mechanism(19) by which the optical unit is pivotable out of or into beam path; positioning unit being couplable to microscope by connection device, the lens being adapted on positioning device by the accommodating device; accommodating device being at least predominantly, preferably completely, made of plastic material, wherein positioning device(15) has lens barrel(24) disposed on pivoting mechanism in pivotable manner, lens barrel being at least predominantly or completely made of metal."
