MUMBAI, India, May 29 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202631062050 A) filed by Assam Down Town University, Guwahati, Assam, on May 15, for 'nutritionally enhanced ready-to-cook fermented idli mix composition and a process for preparation thereof.'

Inventor(s) include Mayengbam Nikita; Dr. Daisy Sharma; Dr. Ritishmita Devi; and Nilakshi Bhagabati.

The application for the patent was published on May 29, under issue no. 22/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a pumpkin-enriched idli mix belonging to the field of ready-to-cook food formulations. The invention provides a nutritionally enhanced idli mix comprising rice flour, black gram flour, pumpkin powder, and optionally processed bamboo shoot powder. The formulation improves dietary fiber, micronutrient content, and functional health benefits while maintaining traditional idli sensory attributes. The invention further discloses a method for preparing the mix through controlled processing, dehydration, blending, and packaging to obtain a shelf-stable product suitable for domestic and commercial use."
