MUMBAI, India, Nov. 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411024928 A) filed by Chandigarh University; and Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator, Mohali, Punjab, on March 27, 2024, for 'nut cracking assistive device.'

Inventor(s) include Amit Verma.

The application for the patent was published on Nov. 7, under issue no. 45/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A nut cracking assistive device comprises of an elongated body 1 having proximal and distal end, a pair of semi-spherical members 3 installed with the distal end by means of a motorized hinge joints, an artificial intelligence based imaging unit 4 installed over the body 1 determines positioning of the nut within the members 3, multiple hydraulic pushers 5 installed over inner periphery of the members 3 to apply pressure over the nut in view of cracking shell of the nut, a microphone 6 is installed over the body 1 to receive voice command of the user regrading cutting of the nut and multiple blades 7 installed over inner periphery of the members 3 each by means of a hydraulic links to enable the blades 7 to cut the nut."
