MUMBAI, India, Sept. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411012859 A) filed by Balwant Rai, Sirsa, Haryana, on Feb. 22, 2024, for 'novel smart automatic portable medical device, assay, kit and system.'

Inventor(s) include Balwant Rai.

The application for the patent was published on Sept. 12, under issue no. 37/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A novel, smart, simultaneously automatic portable medical device, assay kit, and system are used for the detection of different biomarkers at the point-of-care (POC) using lateral flow assays (LFAs). This is facilitated by a novel sample collection device and novel binding agents such as antibody-aptamer chimeras. Additionally, novel artificial intelligence (AI) and image processing technologies are particularly valuable for diagnosis, early detection, risk analysis, prognosis, treatment, and management of various diseases and conditions with fast, high sensitivity and specificity, as well as lower detection limits (picograms per milliliter). Furthermore, the present invention introduces a novel approach for selecting spots, patches, or pimples in generating LFA images from the test line and control line. This involves analyzing the image features and utilizing them to reliably predict and classify LFA images using classification algorithms, specifically Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs), for the detection, diagnosis, prognosis, and monitoring of different health conditions and diseases in both human and nonhuman subjects. The generated images are supplied as input data to the CNN model, a strong tool for extracting crucial information from images, to classify the target images and provide risk stratification levels, early detection, risk analysis, diagnosis, prognosis, treatment, and management of different diseases and conditions."
