MUMBAI, India, Jan. 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511104176 A) filed by Lovely Professional University, Phagwara, Punjab, on Oct. 29, 2025, for 'novel seed planter.'

Inventor(s) include Raj Nandini Kumari; Gondyala Pavan; Narayan Solanki; Adarsh Thakur; Manpreet Singh; and Dr. Sumit Shoor.

The application for the patent was published on Dec. 12, under issue no. 50/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention discloses a novel seed planter system (100) designed for precise seed sowing with minimal human effort. The system comprises a hopper (102), seed disbursement mechanism (104), seed tube (106), groove cutter (108), brush (110), labeller (114), and handle (116). Seeds are stored in the hopper (102), metered through the disbursement mechanism (104), guided via the seed tube (106) into soil grooves made by the cutter (108), and finally covered with soil by the labeller (114). The system ensures uniform seed depth and spacing, minimizes wastage, and increases efficiency compared to manual sowing methods."
