MUMBAI, India, April 10 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202441075564 A) filed by Satish Ghatge, Hyderabad, Telangana, on Oct. 6, 2024, for 'novel clothing to protect legs and other body parts of the batsman in cricket in place of protective pads and protective accessories.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a novel protection for legs and other body parts of the batsman in cricket. It consists of trousers and shirt which are in two layered arrangement which can be filled with air at pressure or filled with such material to soften the force of impact of ball while playing the game of cricket. Or these trousers and shirts would have plethora of pockets at locations which are vulnerable and filled with light fillings to protect the body from the injuries when hit with fast ball."
